Just a few reasons WHY The Hideaway is so special:

  1. One of the least expensive 5-star establishments in South Africa - and certainly on the Garden Route

We are one of the least expensive five-star establishments, and winners of international awards for the last 20 years.

  2. Guests are welcomed with a complimentary cup of tea, coffee, or our homemade lemonade with Jackie's homemade biscuits.

  3. We have extensive knowledge of things to do in the area, routes to take, things to see and places to go. We share this with our guests and also provide large scale maps and information for their use during their stay with us.

  4. We make restaurant bookings on behalf of our guests, often weeks in advance, to secure tables at the best restaurants in high season.

  5. We offer complimentary lifts to and from restaurants if they are not within walking distance, or if guests would prefer not to walk.

  6. Guests are given a complimentary glass of local wine served with snacks (homemade sundried tomato cheese straws, cheesy biscuits with caraway seeds, wasabi peanuts, peri peri cashews  and other local treats) before they go out to dinner.

  7. There are decanters of port and muscadel in each suite for guests to enjoy at no charge.

  8. The mini bar in each suite is stocked with a selection of cold drinks, beer, fresh milk and bottled water for our guests to consume on the premises at no charge.

  9. There are tea and coffee making facilities in each suite with a choice of 3 different types of coffee, 6 different types of tea, 2 different types of sugar,  hot chocolate, and Jackie’s famous shortbread biscuits.

  10. Free private WiFi internet access is available to our guests anywhere on the premises at any time.

  11. Our guests can start the day with a glass of bubbly or Buck’s Fizz which are available on request at no extra charge with our internationally renowned breakfasts.

  12. We have the largest natural swimming pool in South Africa using no chemicals and filled with clear fresh water which makes the skin feel soft and hydrated after swimming.

  13. We have a large guest lounge and stoep next to the pool in the upper garden with beautiful mountain views and comfortable sofas, full WiFi and modern music systems, large screen TV and other audio visual systems.

  14. There are lots of sun loungers for relaxing by the pool and enjoying the sunshine or shade all around the garden.

  15. The garden is filled with roses and the upper garden has orchards and olive groves, a stream runs between banks of agapanthus and arum lillies and guests can enjoy the arched rose walk planted with beautiful scented roses and clematis.

  16. Adin Greaves, the first owner of The Hideaway, winner of the Kudu Award for conservation and author of a book on the Bontebok Park, will take guests of the Hideaway on an exclusive tour of the park for a small fee, subject to availability. This is only available to guests of The Hideaway.

  17. We make each honeymoon couple feel special during their stay. We spoil them in a special way.

  18. If guests stay with us for two nights or more we will gladly do their washing free of charge.
